Residence of Maj. Gen. William Moultrie. Colonel of the 2nd South Carolina Regiment, 1775. Member of the 1st and 2nd Provincial Congreses, 1776-1776. In command of Fort Sullivan, Charleston Harbor, June 28, 1776. Commissioned Brig. Gen., 1776. Maj. Gen., 1782. Exchanged for Gen. Burgoyne, 1782. Governor of South Carolina, 1785-1787, and 1792-1794. First President of the Cincinnati Society of South Carolina.
