Skullyville

Le Flore County · approximately two miles northeast of Spiro on Spring Road

Skullyville was a major settlement that developed around the Choctaw agency established in 1832. The Choctaw received annuity payments here. Many Chickasaws and Seminoles passed through Skullyville during Indian Removal. Choctaw governor Tandy Walker operated a stage station for the Butterfield Overland Mail route here.
