Civil War 10-Pounder

Oklahoma County · on grounds of Wiley Post Building, 2100 North Lincoln Boulevard, Oklahoma City

This three-inch, muzzle-loading field cannon was used in battle by the New Jersey Volunteer Artillery and for entertainment by Pawnee Bill's Wild West show. Major Gordon W. Lillie (Pawnee Bill) gave the cannon to his long-time publicist Frank Stuart who kept it at his Nichols Hills home before bequeathing it to the Oklahoma Historical Society. The marker associated with the cannon was removed with the conversion of the Wiley Post Building to the Oklahoma Judicial Center. The cannon has since been moved to the Pawnee Bill Ranch and Museum.
