Augustus Lindbergh Homestead
The farm adjoining this point on the north was homesteaded in 1860 by Augustus Lindbergh, grandfather of Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh, who made the first non-stop flight from New York to Paris May 20, 21, 1927. Augustus Lindbergh had served two terms in the Swedish Parliament before coming to America.
Verbatim 1940 text, presented as a historical record, not current interpretation. Minnesota now calls the 1862 conflict the U.S.-Dakota War and has since replaced the wording on some of these signs.
