San Fernando Cemetery

This cemetery, earlier known as Morningside Cemetery, is the oldest nonsectarian cemetery in San Fernando Valley. It was established in the early 1800's and was still active until 1939. The cemetery was legally abandoned in 1959. In the same year Mrs. Nellis S. Noble donated this site in memory of the pioneers of San Fernando as a pioneer memorial park.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
