Casa de Carrillo

This restored house is but a remnant of the earliest and one of the largest of the great casas and was constructed about 1810 by Francisco María Ruiz. It became the home of Joaquin Carrillo and his family in the 1820's.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
