Las Flores Asistencia

San Diego County · Approx. 10 miles south of San Clemente · location approximate

This chapel was built around 1823 together with the lodging house used as a halfway house between San Luis Rey and San Juan Capistrano Missions. The asistencia was built on Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores, which is now known as Camp Pendleton.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
