Adobe de Palomares

Completed about 1854 and restored in 1939, this was the family home of Don Ygnacio Palomares, who with Don Richardo Vejar, was granted Rancho San José in 1837 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
