Old Lobero Theater

One of the first community theaters in California opened on February 22, 1872, by José Lobero. The foyer and balcony of the theater were devised out of an old adobe schoolhouse called the Sebastopol. The theater at once became the center of social life in the city. In 1924 the Community Arts Association secured the "Old Lobero."It could not be restored satisfactorily and therefore the"New Lobero" replaced it.
