San Francis Ranch

In 1861 Samuel A. Bishop, his wife and a party of others left Fort Tejon and came to Owens Valley. Here Bishop established the San Francis Ranch. It was here that a treaty of peace was signed by the white settlers and Chief George, Chief Dick, and Little Chief Dick of the Piute Indians.
