The Serrano Adobes

Cañada de los Alisos, also called El Toro, was granted in 1842 by Alvarado to José Serrano. Señor Serrano and his relatives erected a number of adobes on the grant. One of them remains and has been remodeled into private living quarters.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
