Buck's Lake

This was the site of a ranch located by Horace Bucklin and Francis Walker in 1850. Later it became a large hotel, post office and express office. The site is now inundated by Buck's Dam and Reservoir.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
