St. James Episcopal Church

St. James was the seventh parish of the Protestant Episcopal Church in California and is the oldest Episcopal Church building in the state. The first services were held in the church on October 4, 1859. The church was consecrated by Rt. Rev. Wm. Ingraham Kip in 1870.

1971 register text, presented as a historical document. It uses the period's terms for Native people; the state's landmark listings still carry most of this wording, and the California Office of Historic Preservation maintains the program's current texts.
