Shown on 5 historical map sheets, the earliest the 1795 "To Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn Bart ... the map of the six counties of North Wales is most humbly inscribed by his obedient humble servant" (Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru – The National Library of Wales).
Cadw's description
Location
Located at an oblique angle on the north side of the farmyard at Eithinog-uchaf; the farmyard sits to the north of the farmhouse on the track to Pant Eithinog, which itself lies just off Ffordd Clynnog.
History
Shown on the 1840 Tithe Map, the barn and stables were probably built c1825, which is the date of an overmantel in the farmhouse and appears to be contemporary with the construction of the farmhouse.
Exterior
Long rectangular building of roughly coursed rubblestone, comprising barn to left and stables to right; continuous graded slate roof with part of roof structure missing towards right end. Barn section has boarded door roughly to centre with ventilation slit to its left and small eaves window to right with to its right a wide opening under stone lintel; stable has central boarded door flanked by 6-paned sashes.
Interior
A-frame roof trusses.
Reason for designation
Included, despite the fact that part of the roof structure is missing at one end as an essentially well-preserved early C19 barn and stables having strong group value with the other buildings at Eithinog-uchaf.
