Omschrijving
Ned. Herv. of St. Catharinakerk. Laat-gotische kruiskerk met pseudobasilicaal schip op zuilen, welke kapitelen merkwaardige, enkele bladkransen hebben. Diep, vijfzijdig gesloten koor. Schip, koor en dwarsschip worden overwelfd door houten tongewelven; over de zijbeuken halve tongewelven. De kerk is in 1896 geheel uitgebrand en vervolgens gerestaureerd. Een nieuwe restauratie van kerk en toren is in 1967 voltooid. Op de oostelijke torenwand aan de zijde van het schip een uit omstreeks 1520 daterende muurschildering, voorstellend een vogelvlucht-plattegrond der stad. Hierboven een opschrift, waarin het beleg en de inneming van de stad door de Geldersen in 1517 wordt gememoreerd. Twee koperen lezenaars, omstreeks 1700. In het koor een grote zerk voor de familie Van Boetzelaer, laat-gotisch, eerste helft 16e eeuw. Voorts een priesterzerk met beeld in reliëf, 1525. Tweeklaviers orgel met pedaal, gemaakt in 1892 door de firma Witte uit Utrecht, voor de hervormde Noorderkerk te Rotterdam. Het instrument is in 1974, na sluiting van het kerkgebouw, aangekocht door de firma Verschueren te Heythuysen en in 2002 doorverkocht aan de hervormde gemeente van Asperen.

Description
Dutch Reformed or St. Catharina Church. Late-gothic cruciform church with pseudo-basilical nave on pillars, which capitals have remarkable, single leafy capitals. Deep, five-sided closed choir. Nave, choir and transept are vaulted by wooden barrel vaults; over the side aisles half barrel vaults. The church was completely destroyed by fire in 1896 and subsequently restored. A new restoration of church and tower was completed in 1967. On the eastern tower wall on the side of the nave a wall painting dating from around 1520, depicting a bird's-eye view ground plan of the city. Above this an inscription, in which the siege and capture of the city by the Gelders in 1517 is commemorated. Two copper lecterns, around 1700. In the choir a large stone for the Van Boetzelaer family, late-gothic, first half 16th century. Furthermore a priest's stone with image in relief, 1525. Two-manual organ with pedal, made in 1892 by the firm Witte from Utrecht, for the Reformed Noorderkerk in Rotterdam. The instrument was purchased in 1974, after closure of the church building, by the firm Verschueren in Heythuysen and in 2002 sold on to the Reformed congregation of Asperen.
