NIEUWE HOLLANDSE WATERLINIE
Inleiding
NISSENHUT / OPSLAGGEBOUW / MAGAZIJN, vermoedelijk van omstreeks 1950, gelegen aan de noordoostzijde van de Inlaatsluis / Rivierwaterkering te Tiel, westelijk naast de houten schotbalkenloods. Nissenhutten of boogloodsen zijn tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog uitgevonden door de Canadees P. N. Nissen en ze zijn vervolgens is verschillende varianten wereldwijd toegepast, ook voor niet militaire doeleinden. Het gebouwtje ligt met de lengterichting van noord naar zuid, direct aan de Ophemertsedijk. De Nissenhut werd vermoedelijk benut als opslaggebouw / magazijn. Het interieur werd niet bezocht.
Omschrijving
De NISSENHUT / OPSLAGGEBOUW / MAGAZIJN aan de Ophemertsedijk bij Tiel is een eenlaags, en voor wat de beide kopse gevels betreft, bakstenen bouwwerk op een circa 12 x 5 m (l x b) metende, rechthoekige plattegrond. Het gebouw wordt gedekt door een uit metalen golfplaat vervaardigd halfrond dak. De beide kopse gevels bevatten een toegangsopening onder bakstenen strek en met dubbele houten, verticaal beplankte deuren en met direct hiernaast, ter weerszijden een ongeveer vierkante vensteropening met bakstenen dorpel, beide voorzien van luiken.
Waardering
De NISSENHUT / OPSLAGGEBOUW / MAGAZIJN aan de Ophemertsedijk te Tiel is van algemeen belang vanwege:
* Cultuurhistorische waarden, als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie zoals deze is ontworpen door C.R.T. Kraijenhoff en in eerste aanleg vanaf 1815 door hem, Jan Blanken en majoor-ingenieur Willem Offerhaus is gerealiseerd en daarna door anderen gedurende ongeveer 125 jaar is versterkt en verbeterd.
* Architectuurhistorische waarden, in het bijzonder als uiting van de militair-strategische bouwkunde, die gebaseerd is op en is toegevoegd aan: a. het systeem van inundatie en accesverdediging (20ste eeuw).
Het betreft hier een voorbeeld van een gemakkelijk te (ver)plaatsen, grotendeels van ijzeren golfplaten vervaardigde hal van een type dat sinds de uitvinding ervan op vele plaatsen en in talrijke functies is toegepast.
* Ensemblewaarde en situationele waarden als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Tevens vanwege de functionele en fysieke samenhang met de overige onderdelen van het complex.
* Het onderdeel is representatief omdat het een goed voorbeeld is van de toepassing van dit type hallen in een militaire functie.
* Het onderdeel is tamelijk gaaf bewaard omdat vorm en opslagfunctie nog goed herkenbaar zijn.

NEW HOLLANDIC WATERLINE
Introduction
NISSEN HUT / STORAGE BUILDING / WAREHOUSE, presumably dating from around 1950, located on the north-east side of the Inlet Lock / River Water Barrier at Tiel, to the west of the wooden shutter-beam shed. Nissen huts or arch sheds were invented during the First World War by Canadian P. N. Nissen and were subsequently applied worldwide in various variants, also for non-military purposes. The building is oriented lengthwise from north to south, directly on the Ophemertsedijk. The Nissen hut was presumably used as a storage building / warehouse. The interior was not visited.
Description
The NISSEN HUT / STORAGE BUILDING / WAREHOUSE on the Ophemertsedijk at Tiel is a single-storey building with brick end gables, built on a rectangular floor plan measuring approximately 12 x 5 m (length x width). The building is covered by a half-cylindrical roof made of corrugated metal sheet. Both end gables contain an access opening under a brick lintel with double wooden, vertically boarded doors, and immediately adjacent to these, on either side, approximately square window openings with brick sills, both fitted with shutters.
Valuation
The NISSEN HUT / STORAGE BUILDING / WAREHOUSE on the Ophemertsedijk at Tiel is of general importance because of:
* Cultural-historical values, as part of the New Hollandic Waterline as designed by C.R.T. Kraijenhoff and initially constructed from 1815 by him, Jan Blanken and major-engineer Willem Offerhaus, and subsequently strengthened and improved by others over approximately 125 years.
