NIEUWE HOLLANDSE WATERLINIE
Inleiding
NISSENHUT / OPSLAGGEBOUW / MAGAZIJN, vermoedelijk van omstreeks 1950, gelegen op de westelijke helft van de Wapenplaats bij Asperen. Nissenhutten of boogloodsen zijn tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog uitgevonden door de Canadees P. N. Nissen en ze zijn vervolgens is verschillende varianten wereldwijd toegepast, ook voor niet militaire doeleinden. Het gebouwtje ligt en met de lengterichting van noord naar zuid, vlak naast de openbare weg over de Wapenplaats, tussen de weg en een groepsschuilplaats type P. De Nissenhut werd vermoedelijk benut als opslaggebouw / magazijn.
Omschrijving
De NISSENHUT / OPSLAGGEBOUW / MAGAZIJN op de Wapenplaats bij Asperen is een eenlaags, voor wat de beide kopse gevels betreft, bakstenen bouwwerk op een circa 12 x 5 m (l x b) metende, rechthoekige plattegrond en gedekt door een uit metalen golfplaat vervaardigd halfrond dak. De beide kopgevels bevatten een toegangsopening onder bakstenen strek, met dubbele houten deuren en ter weerszijden een ongeveer vierkante vensteropening voorzien van luiken. Boven de toegangen een ventilatierooster. De Nissenhut is vermoedelijk omstreeks 1950 aan het werk toegevoegd. Het interieur werd niet bezocht.
Waardering
De NISSENHUT / OPSLAGGEBOUW / MAGAZIJN op de Wapenplaats bij Asperen is van algemeen belang vanwege:
* Cultuurhistorische waarden, als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie zoals deze is ontworpen door C.R.T. Kraijenhoff en in eerste aanleg vanaf 1815 door hem, Jan Blanken en majoor-ingenieur Willem Offerhaus is gerealiseerd en daarna door anderen gedurende ongeveer 125 jaar is versterkt en verbeterd.
* Architectuurhistorische waarden, in het bijzonder als uiting van de militair-strategische bouwkunde, die gebaseerd is op en is toegevoegd aan: a. het systeem van inundatie en accesverdediging (19de en 20ste eeuw).
Het betreft hier een voorbeeld van een gemakkelijk te (ver)plaatsen, grotendeels van ijzeren golfplaten vervaardigde hal van een type dat sinds de uitvinding ervan op vele plaatsen en in talrijke functies is toegepast.
* Ensemblewaarde en situationele waarden als onderdeel van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. Tevens vanwege de functionele en fysieke samenhang met de overige onderdelen van het complex.

NEW HOLLANDIC WATERLINE
Introduction
NISSEN HUT / STORAGE BUILDING / MAGAZINE, presumed to be from approximately 1950, located on the western half of the Wapenplaats near Asperen. Nissen huts or bow sheds were invented during the First World War by Canadian P. N. Nissen and were subsequently applied in various variants worldwide, also for non-military purposes. The small building lies with its length direction from north to south, immediately next to the public road over the Wapenplaats, between the road and a group shelter type P. The Nissen hut was presumably used as a storage building / magazine.
Description
The NISSEN HUT / STORAGE BUILDING / MAGAZINE at the Wapenplaats near Asperen is a one-storey, as far as the two end gables are concerned, brickwork structure on an approximately 12 x 5 m (l x w) rectangular ground plan and covered by a half-round roof made of metal corrugated sheeting. Both end gables contain an access opening under brick stretcher, with double wooden doors and on either side an approximately square window opening fitted with shutters.
