Onderdeel 8. Wilhelminachalet.
Het chalet is een ontwerp van de 'architect des konings' Lucas. Eberson. Het chalet werd in 1892 opgeleverd, maar was naar het schijnt oorspronkelijk bedoeld voor de 10e verjaardag van prinses Wilhelmina. In het jaar 1890 stierf echter zowel haar vader als de architect hetgeen waarschijnlijk tot de verlate oplevering heeft geleid. Bij het chalet zijn tevens sporen van 'rotsen' in de vorm van grote keien in de waterpartij aangetroffen. Deze zouden bijdragen aan de 'Alpine' sfeer van het geheel.
Beschrijving
'WILHELMINACHALET' behorende tot de historische buitenplaats Soestdijk. In het park, uitkijkend over de weide van een boerderij, staat een houten speelhuisje in Zwitserse chaletstijl met neo-renaissance en neo-gotische motieven gebouwd in 1892 voor prinses Wilhelmina. Het op een bakstenen voet opgetrokken chalet bestaat uit drie verspringende bouwvolumes van verschillende hoogten onder flauw hellende zinken zadeldaken met groot overstek en gesneden schoren en daklijsten met palmetten en pinakel. Op de nok een gemetselde schoorsteen. Aan de weizijde (west) een open veranda met drie treden stoep, ajourwerk en gesneden colonetten. Het hogere middendeel en het lagere deel (portaal) daarachter zijn voorzien van lat- en roosterwerk, piedestals in gotische vormen en draaivensters met asymmetrische onderverdeling.
