Omschrijving onderdeel 3: Schokbos.
Door het SCHOKBOS, genaamd Kleibos, bestaande uit beplanting kenmerkt het Hembrugterrein zich in het Zaanse landschap door haar groene karakter. Zo is het Kleibos op het terrein bijvoorbeeld het enige bos in het Zaanse veenweidegebied. De beplanting op het terrein is niet het gevolg van een gebrek aan terreinonderhoud, maar volgens een uitgewerkt beplantingsschema aangelegd rond 1902 met het oog op de werkzaamheden in de munitie- en wapenfabriek: het moest de drukgolf van (mogelijke) ontploffingen afzwakken en eventueel rondvliegend materiaal opvangen. De oorspronkelijke beplanting was gebaseerd op een beplantingsschema dat op enkele plaatsen en met name ter plaatse van het Kleibos nog te herkennen is.
