Complexonderdeel C: 1e Parkhavenbrug
Inleiding
BASCULEBRUG "1e Parkhavenbrug", deel uitmakend van het complex "Parksluizen", gelegen over het buitensluishoofd van de Grote Parksluis, in de Westzeedijk. De brug is in 1932 gebouwd van Union Baustahl (staal 52), waardoor een lagere bouwprijs kon worden berekend. In de ontwerpberekeningen was geen aandacht besteed aan mogelijke vermoeidheidsverschijnselen ten gevolge van het openen en sluiten van de brug. In 1959 zijn de hoofdliggers van de brug afgebroken. De staalconstructie van De 1e Parkhavenbrug is in 1960 vernieuwd in staal 37.
Omschrijving
De brug is gefundeerd op houten palen. De landhoofden zijn gebouwd in beton en metselwerk en de beweegbare brug is van staal met een houten dek. De val is 14,70 meter lang en 20 meter breed. De brug wordt electro-mechanisch aangedreven. De afsluiting geschiedt electro-hydraulisch. De doorvaartbreedte is 13,65 meter. De brug heeft gemetselde hoekpijlers met granieten bekroningen en is voorzien van een eenvoudige stalen brugleuning met verticale spijlen.
Waardering

Complex component C: 1st Parkhavenbrug
Introduction
BASCULE BRIDGE "1st Parkhavenbrug", forming part of the complex "Parksluizen", located over the outer lock gate of the Grote Parksluis, in the Westzeedijk. The bridge was built in 1932 from Union Baustahl (steel 52), which allowed a lower construction price to be calculated. In the design calculations, no attention had been paid to possible fatigue phenomena resulting from opening and closing of the bridge. In 1959 the main beams of the bridge were demolished. The steel structure of the 1st Parkhavenbrug was renewed in 1960 in steel 37.
Description
The bridge is founded on wooden piles. The abutments are built of concrete and masonry and the movable bridge is of steel with a wooden deck. The span is 14.70 metres long and 20 metres wide. The bridge is driven electro-mechanically. The closure is electro-hydraulic. The navigable width is 13.65 metres. The bridge has masonry corner piers with granite coping and is provided with a simple steel bridge railing with vertical balusters.
