Omschrijving onderdeel 5: TWEE IJZEREN HEKKEN.
Binnen de historische parkaanleg van kasteel Mheer bevinden zich twee 19de-eeuwse ijzeren hekken van eenzelfde opzet en afwerking. Eén (5A) is geplaatst aan het einde van de poortweg ter afsluiting van het weiland aldaar. De ander (5B) aan het einde van de lange middenlaan. Ieder hek bestaat uit een ronde hekpijler bekroond met een boogvorm met omgekrulde uiteinden en vertakkingen. In de velden van de boogvorm de wapens van de familie De Loë. De hekpijlers zijn gemaakt van 18de-eeuwse kanonnenbuizen. Tussen de pijlers draaien de hekvleugels met spijlen en een pijlpuntbekroning. De hekken zijn geschilderd in een zwart-wit bandenpatroon.

Description of component 5: TWO IRON GATES.
Within the historical park layout of castle Mheer are two 19th-century iron gates of the same design and finish. One (5A) is placed at the end of the gateway road as closure of the pasture there. The other (5B) at the end of the long central lane. Each gate consists of a round gate pier crowned with an arch form with curled ends and branches. In the fields of the arch form the coat of arms of the De Loë family. The gate piers are made from 18th-century cannon barrels. Between the piers swing the gate wings with spikes and an arrow-point crown. The gates are painted in a black-and-white striped pattern.
Valuation
The two IRON GATES in the park layout of castle Mheer are of general cultural-historical importance on account of their functional and decorative significance for the country estate.
