Omschrijving onderdeel 4:
IJSKELDER op het complex historische buitenplaats Leyduin, vermoedelijk 18de eeuws. Even ten noordwesten van de stal (onderdeel 12) ligt de ijskelder. Deze is herkenbaar aan het met aarde afgedekte gewelf en de gemetselde ingangspartij aan de westzijde. Hoewel deze kelder bekend staat als appelkelder betreft het hier naar alle waarschijnlijkheid in oorsprong een ijskelder. Het alternatief gebruik van ijskelders t.b.v. de opslag van fruit kwam ook elders voor (zie Reinink). Vooralsnog is niet bekend tot welk type de kelder behoort. De kelder doet thans dienst als slaapplaats voor vleermuizen.
Waardering
De IJSKELDER is van algemeen belang vanwege:
- de architectuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een inmiddels zeldzaam geworden gebouwtype;
- de ensemble waarde van de ruimtelijk-functionele relatie van de onderdelen.

Description of component 4:
An ICE HOUSE on the complex historic country estate Leyduin, presumably 18th century. Just northwest of the stable (component 12) lies the ice house. It is identifiable by the earth-covered vault and the masonry entrance section on the west side. Although this cellar is known as an apple cellar, it is in all probability originally an ice house. The alternative use of ice houses for the storage of fruit also occurred elsewhere (see Reinink). It is not yet known to which type the cellar belongs. The cellar currently serves as a sleeping place for bats.
Valuation
The ICE HOUSE is of general importance for:
- its architectural-historical value as an example of a building type which has by now become rare;
- the ensemble value of the spatial-functional relationship of the components.
