Omschrijving
HUIS VERWOLDE. Het huis dagtekent uit 1775-1776 en is gebouwd ter plaatse van een oudere voorganger in Lodewijk XVI-stijl; het is een ontwerp van Ph. W. Schonck. In 1926 is een toren toegevoegd naar ontwerp van de architecten M.A. en J. van Nieukerken. Het staat op een rechthoekige plattegrond met aan op de zuidwesthoek een vierkante toren. Het huis is opgetrokken uit baksteen met natuurstenen middenrisaliet, telt twee bouwlagen op een souterrain en heeft een afgeplat schilddak, bekleed met leien (1927). Op het dak grote en kleine dakkapellen en vier forse vierkante schoorstenen. De voorgevel bestaat uit vijf vensterassen met centraal een in natuursteen uitgevoerde entreepartij. Op de hoeken gebosseerde, in natuursteen uitgevoerde hoeklisenen. De entreepartij bestaat uit een bordes met hek (1890), deur met bovenlicht in geprofileerde en gebosseerde omlijsting, twee lantaarns. Op de verdieping boven de entree een venster, waarboven de frieslijst met jaartal 1776, daarboven een timpaan. In de gevelvlakken tussen de vensters begane grond en verdieping bevinden zich natuursteen platen met festoenen. De zijgevels zijn sober uitgevoerd. De toren is uitgevoerd in baksteen met een met leien bedekt tentdak. Eenvoudige vensters en siermuurankers in de gevels. De toren heeft vier bouwlagen. De structuur van het interieur is sedert de bouwtijd niet gewijzigd. Het souterrain met de dienstvertrekken en de keuken, de bel-etage met de woon- en ontvangstruimten zoals de centrale hal met trappenhuis en de daaromheen liggende vertrekken en de slaapkamers en overige vertrekken op de verdieping. HOUSE VERWOLDE. The house dates from 1775-1776 and was built in place of an older predecessor in Louis XVI style; it is a design by Ph. W. Schonck. In 1926 a tower was added to the design of the architects M.A. and J. van Nieukerken. It stands on a rectangular ground plan with a square tower at the southwest corner. The house is constructed in brick with natural stone central risalit, has two storeys above a basement and has a hipped roof clad in slate (1927). On the roof large and small roof dormers and four substantial square chimneys. The front facade consists of five window bays with a central entrance section executed in natural stone. Rusticated corner pilasters executed in natural stone at the corners. The entrance consists of a perron with railings (1890), door with fanlight in moulded and rusticated surround, two lanterns. On the storey above the entrance a window, above which the frieze band with the date 1776, above that a pediment. In the facade sections between the windows of the ground floor and storey are natural stone panels with festoons. The side facades are soberly executed.
