HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG. Het kasteel is gesitueerd op een trapeziumvormig perceel dat grotendeels door lanen is omgeven. Het terrein wordt door een rechte lindelaan in tweeën gedeeld met aan de oostzijde het omgrachte hoofdgebouw in een kleinschalige aanleg in landschapsstijl en aan de westzijde een nutsgedeelte. Langs de zuidoostzijde van het trapeziumvormige terrein loopt een rechte, dubbele laan (Kasteellaan/Heilige Geestlaan) met een waterloop in het midden; deze waterloop was oorspronkelijk onderdeel van het riviertje de Rips, dat een kronkelend verloop kende en aan het begin van de zeventiende eeuw over een lengte van ca.400 meter is gekanaliseerd. Aan de westzijde de Scheidiuslaan met rode beuken; aan de noordzijde de Ridder Rutgerlaan met inlandse eiken. Haaks op de Kasteellaan staat ter hoogte van het poortgebouw in de as van het kasteel de toegangslaan die met twee rijen kastanjebomen is beplant. De binnengracht is tussen 1669-1879 vergraven tot een vijverpartij, waarlangs een slingerende rondwandeling rondom en opgaande bomen (plataan, kastanje, eik en beuk); deze kleinschalige aanleg in landschapsstijl is gedetailleerd weergegeven op een pentekening en in grote lijnen op de Topografische Militaire Kaart uit 1897. De lindelaan vormt de grens tussen het landschappelijke deel en het meer formele deel. Aan het einde van de lindelaan (noord) ligt een opgeworpen heuvel (oorspronkelijk een grot). Aan de westzijde van de laan grenzen twee carré's met lanen van linden (midden, oost-west), eiken, groene en rode beuken die thans een weiland (noord) en een sobere begraafplaats van de paters (zuid) omringen. Rondom het landschappelijk gedeelte en de carré's ligt de buitengracht. Ten westen daarvan tot aan de Scheidiuslaan bevindt zich een weiland. De inrichting met de carré's is waarschijnlijk in dezelfde periode 1869-1879 tot stand gekomen (zie ook de Topografische Militaire Kaart 1897), waarin ook de moestuin naar de overzijde van de Kasteellaan is verplaatst.

HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT. The castle is situated on a trapezoidal parcel largely surrounded by avenues. The terrain is divided into two parts by a straight lime-tree avenue, with on the east side the moated main building in a small-scale landscape-style layout and on the west side a utility area. Along the south-eastern side of the trapezoidal terrain runs a straight, double avenue (Kasteellaan/Heilige Geestlaan) with a watercourse in the middle; this watercourse was originally part of the Rips river, which had a meandering course and was canalized over a length of approximately 400 metres at the beginning of the seventeenth century. On the west side the Scheidiuslaan with red beeches; on the north side the Ridder Rutgerlaan with native oaks. At right angles to the Kasteellaan at the height of the gate building in the axis of the castle stands the access avenue which is planted with two rows of chestnut trees. The inner moat was enlarged between 1669-1879 into a pond, around which winds a winding circuit walk surrounded by tall trees (plane, chestnut, oak and beech); this small-scale landscape-style layout is shown in detail in a pen drawing and in broad outline on the Topographic Military Map of 1897. The lime-tree avenue forms the boundary between the landscape-style section and the more formal section. At the end of the lime-tree avenue (north) lies an earthwork mound (originally a grotto). On the west side of the avenue border two square layouts with avenues of lime trees (middle, east-west), oaks, green and red beeches which now surround a meadow (north) and a simple burial ground of the Fathers (south). Around the landscape-style section and the squares lies the outer moat. West of that as far as the Scheidiuslaan extends a meadow. The arrangement with the squares probably came about in the same period 1869-1879 (see also the Topographic Military Map 1897), in which period the vegetable garden was also relocated to the opposite side of the Kasteellaan.
