Omschrijving onderdeel 2:
HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorend bij de buitenplaats Zuidewijn. De kleinschalige aanleg rondom het huis Zuidewijn is sober en functioneel van karakter en bestaat in hoofdlijnen uit een moestuin annex boomgaard en eikenbosje bij het huis gelegen binnen een structuur van rechte lanen. Over de ontwikkeling van de aanleg zijn weinig gegevens voorhanden; op de kadastrale minuut van ca.1820 staat de aanleg voor het eerst enigszins gedetailleerd aangegeven. Voor het huis parallel aan de Hoge Vaart loopt een enkele lindelaan met lindestoelen, mogelijk uit de 18de-eeuw of eerder tot de aanleg behorend. Achter het huis ligt een klein eikenbosje in vierkantsverband met op de hoeken een es en een beuk uit de aanvang van de vorige eeuw. De twee in aanleg 19de-eeuwse ontginningslanen (gemengd loofhout): de brede oost-westlaan van ca.250 meter en de van noord-zuid verlopende dwarslaan van ca.1 kilometer vormen de structuur bepalende en opgaande elementen in een verder vlak weidelandschap. De rechthoekige moestuin annex boomgaard is aan drie zijden omhaagd met aan de randen enkele solitaire bomen en geheel door sloten omgeven; rechthoekige padenstructuur (onverhard) met centrale middenas; deels gras deels met fruitbomen; axiale ruimtewerking. De toegang wordt geaccentueerd door twee kegelvormig gesnoeide taxussen (vroeger vormsnoei als haantje).

HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the country seat Zuidewijn. The small-scale layout surrounding the house Zuidewijn is sober and functional in character and consists in broad outline of a kitchen garden combined with orchard and oak copse located near the house within a structure of straight avenues. Few data are available on the development of the layout; on the cadastral map of c.1820 the layout is for the first time indicated in some detail. Parallel to the house and to the Hoge Vaart runs a single avenue of lime trees with lime-tree seats, possibly dating from the 18th century or earlier and part of the original layout. Behind the house lies a small oak copse in square formation with an ash and a beech at the corners from the beginning of the last century. The two 19th-century avenues in the layout (mixed broadleaf woodland): the broad east-west avenue of c.250 metres and the north-south running cross avenue of c.1 kilometre form the structure-determining and dominating elements in an otherwise flat grassland landscape. The rectangular kitchen garden combined with orchard is hedged on three sides with a few solitary trees at the edges and entirely surrounded by ditches; rectangular path structure (unpaved) with central main axis; partly grass partly planted with fruit trees; axial spatial composition. The access is accentuated by two conically clipped yews (formerly decoratively pruned as a cockerel).
