Omschrijving onderdeel 3:
KOETSHUIS. Volgens tekeningen van J. de Beijer uit het midden van de 18de eeuw stonden er destijds twee bouwhuizen op traditionele wijze ter weerszijden van het voorplein. Tegenwoordig is aan de zuidzijde van het plein nog een voormalig koetshuis aanwezig, dat van latere datum is (1816: eerste steen). Ten behoeve van de herbestemming tot gemeentewinkel (1984) is het interieur opnieuw ingedeeld. Bovendien zijn de grote inrijdeuren aan de voorzijde voorzien van glas. Het relatief grote, deels onderkelderde gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond is opgetrokken uit rode baksteen en bestaat uit twee bouwlagen en een zolder onder een omlopend schilddak, gedekt met gesmoorde Hollandse pannen. De gevels worden verticaal geleed door gemetselde lisenen. In het koetshuis waren oorspronkelijk twee dienstwoningen (oost en west) en een koets- en paardenstalling (midden) ondergebracht. Deze functieverdeling is aan de buitenzijde nog herkenbaar. De voorgevel telt vijf vensterassen met een terugliggende middenpartij, waarin drie dubbele inrijdeuren met getoogde bovenzijde zijn opgenomen. De middenpartij wordt geflankeerd door schuifvensters in empirestijl. Op de verdieping tweelichten, op het niveau van het souterrain eenvoudige vensters van verschillende vorm. De oostelijke en westelijke eindgevel vormden de voorgevels van de dienstwoningen. Deze gevels zijn drie vensterassen breed, voorzien van een centrale deur met bovenlicht (voorafgegaan door een stoepje van enkele treden) en vensters als in de voorgevel. De achterzijde van het voormalige koetshuis spring over vier vensterassen fors uit. In de achtergevel vensters als aan de voorzijde en twee eenvoudige toegangsdeuren. COACH HOUSE. According to drawings by J. de Beijer from the middle of the 18th century, two utility buildings stood at that time in traditional fashion on either side of the forecourt. Today a former coach house of later date is still present on the south side of the square (1816: foundation stone). For the conversion to municipal shop (1984) the interior was reorganized. Moreover, the large carriage doors on the front are fitted with glass. The relatively large building, partly with basement, on rectangular plan is constructed of red brick and consists of two storeys and an attic under a hipped roof running all round, covered with interlocking Dutch tiles. The facades are articulated vertically by brick pilasters. In the coach house two service dwellings (east and west) and a coach and horse stabling (centre) were originally housed. This functional distribution is still recognizable on the outside. The front facade has five window bays with a recessed central section, in which three double carriage doors with arched top are incorporated. The central section is flanked by sash windows in Empire style. On the upper storey two-light windows, at basement level simple windows of various forms. The eastern and western end facades formed the front facades of the service dwellings. These facades are three window bays wide, furnished with a central door with fanlight (preceded by a small stoop of several steps) and windows as in the front facade.
