Inleiding
Op het binnenterrein van het oude carré gelegen FABRIEKSSCHOORSTEEN, gebouwd in 1908 als een vrijstaande, 35 meter hoge bakstenen schoorsteen ten behoeve van het ketelhuis voor het ziekenhuis. De schoorsteen werd gebouwd door Canoy-Herfkens uit Tegelen en is sinds 1972 buiten gebruik.
Omschrijving
De 35 meter hoge schoorsteen is opgetrokken in rode radiaalstenen en bezit een ronde voet zonder siermetselwerk. De schacht wordt bekroond door een iets scheve kop met sober siermetselwerk rondom. Er is geen gebruik gemaakt van gekleurde stenen. Verder zijn ook geen ingemetselde naam, jaartal of logo opgenomen. Rondom de schacht zijn twintig ijzeren trekbanden aangebracht.
Waardering
De SCHOORSTEEN bij het ketelhuis is van algemeen belang vanwege:
- cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van de zelfredzaamheid in energievoorziening van het ziekenhuis;
- bouwhistorische waarde vanwege de alleen in de schoorsteenbouw tijdelijk toegepaste trapeziumvormige radiaalstenen;
- ensemblewaarde als functioneel onderdeel van de centrale energie-voorziening en de hiermee verband houdende weloverwogen situering naast het ketelhuis op het binnenterrein van het ziekenhuiscarré. Het schoorsteen-silhouet is daarnaast van bijzondere betekenis voor het aanzien van dit ensemble;
- zeldzaamheidswaarde als onderdeel van het ziekenhuis in combinatie met de aanwezigheid van het ketelhuis.

Located on the inner courtyard of the old carré, FACTORY CHIMNEY, built in 1908 as a freestanding, 35-metre-high brick chimney for the boiler house for the hospital. The chimney was built by Canoy-Herfkens from Tegelen and has been out of use since 1972.

The 35-metre-high chimney is constructed of red radial bricks and has a round base without ornamental brickwork. The shaft is crowned by a slightly askew head with sober ornamental brickwork around. - rarity value as a component of the hospital in combination with the presence of the boiler house.
