Inleiding
Zoals ook op de muurschildering op de resterende muur van het kantoor van de kampcommandant te zien is, was het kamp omgeven door een aantal houten wachttorens. De meeste zijn verdwenen, slechts dit exemplaar resteert. In 2004 is de toren in het kader van het herinrichtingsplan van het terrein naar zijn huidige, oorspronkelijke plaats overgebracht. Hierbij bleek dat de houten staanders dusdanig waren aangetast dat ze moesten worden vervangen.
Omschrijving
Houten WACHTTOREN bestaande uit vier staanders waartussen gekruiste schoren. De staanders dragen het platform, dat omgeven is met een borstwering van verticaal geplaatste planken. Vanaf het platform staan opnieuw vier staanders die het houten dak dragen.
Waardering
De houten WACHTTOREN is van algemeen belang vanwege typologische waarde als in Nederland enig overgebleven voorbeeld van een Duitse wachttoren. De wachttoren heeft tevens ensemblewaarde.

Introduction
As can also be seen in the mural painting on the remaining wall of the office of the camp commandant, the camp was surrounded by a number of wooden guard towers. Most have disappeared, only this example remains. In 2004 the tower was moved to its current, original location in the framework of the redevelopment plan for the site. In doing so it appeared that the wooden posts were so deteriorated that they had to be replaced.
Description
Wooden GUARD TOWER consisting of four posts with crossed braces between them. The posts support the platform, which is surrounded by a parapet of vertically placed boards. From the platform four posts again stand which support the wooden roof.
Valuation
The wooden GUARD TOWER is of general importance due to its typological value as the only remaining example of a German guard tower in the Netherlands. The guard tower also has ensemble value.
