Inleiding:
De Damsluis in het Valleikanaal en in de Roffelaarskade is gebouwd ter vervanging van een eerder gebouwde damsluis in de Lunterse Beek. De militaire functie van de sluis was de regulering en doorvoer van het inundatiewater naar de noordelijk gelegen inundatiekommen. Door de damsluis te sluiten werd het water in de Lunterse Beek opgestuwd en kon de 4e kom worden geïnundeerd.
Omschrijving:
In 1865 aangelegd WATERWERK, bestaande uit een damsluis. De Damsluis is uitgevoerd in metselwerk met deels hardstenen schotbalksponningen en hoekprofielen. Bovenop de sluis ligt een moderne betonnen brug. De sluis is voorzien van een moderne stuwvoorziening met bijbehorende moderne machinekasten. De maximale afmetingen van de damsluis zijn 12,5 bij 17,39 meter inclusief de landhoofden. De sluis heeft twee doorstroomopeningen van elk van 5 meter breed, gescheiden door een middenpenant van 6,00 bij 1,50 meter. In het midden bevinden zich 2 x 2 schotbalksponningen.

De damsluis is van algemeen belang vanwege:
Cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de Grebbelinie, zoals deze in een periode van 200 jaar in zes fasen is aangelegd.
