Inleiding:
Het Krakhorster Verlaat was oorspronkelijk een houten verlaat, dat in vredestijd was bestemd voor het doorvoeren van water uit de Hamersveldse Beek naar de Morsteerbeek (vanaf 1937 Valleikanaal). In 1865 kreeg het ook een militaire bestemming als inundatiesluis voor het eventueel stellen van inundaties achter de Grebbelinie. Daarbij werd het houten verlaat vervangen door een stenen damsluis.
Omschrijving:
In 1865 verbeterd, maar al eerder aangelegd WATERWERK, bestaande uit een verlaat.
De Damsluis is uitgevoerd in metselwerk met deels hardstenen schotbalksponningen en hoekprofielen. Op de damsluis ligt een moderne metalen spoorbrug. De damsluis ligt in het Valleikanaal op de plaats waar tijdens de bouw de Broekersloot lag.
Het oppervlak van het Krakhorster Verlaat is maximaal 9,0 bij 3,8 meter inclusief landhoofden. Het heeft een doorstroomopening van 2 meter. Aan de noordoostzijde bevinden zich 2 x 2 schotbalksponningen. De constructie is in metselwerk met hardstenen schotbalksponningen en hoekprofielen.

De damsluis is van algemeen belang vanwege:
Cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de Grebbelinie, zoals deze in een periode van 200 jaar in zes fasen is aangelegd.
Architectuurhistorische waarden in het bijzonder als uiting van de militair-strategische bouwkunde, die gebaseerd is op:
