Inleiding
In gele radiaalsteen opgetrokken fabrieksschoorsteen met siermetselwerk in rode radiaalsteen, omstreeks 1902 gebouwd bij het fabriekscomplex (textiel) van Jansen & Tilanus aan het Overijssels Kanaal. Vermoedelijk is de bouwer uit Duitsland afkomstig geweest. In Nederland zijn geen andere fabrieksschoorstenen van dit type bewaard gebleven. In de nabije omgeving van de schoorsteen zijn de ketelhuizen, de directeurswoning en de fabriekshallen (thans deels voorzien van een metalen beplating en gewijzigd door diverse ingrepen en derhalve niet beschermenswaardig op rijksniveau) bewaard gebleven. Vanuit de verre omtrek is de schoorsteen zichtbaar.
Omschrijving
De thans vrijstaande FABRIEKSSCHOORSTEEN is geplaatst op een sokkel van rode baksteen (kruisverband). In de onderbouw zijn de voormalige openingen dichtgezet. De voet van de schoorsteen is voorzien van verdiept liggende velden en randen van rode radiaalsteen. Ook in het onderste gedeelte van de schacht bevinden zich verdiept liggende velden en siermetselwerk in rode steen. De top en de bovenste 6-7 meter van de schoorsteen zijn in het verleden verwijderd.
Waardering
De FABRIEKSSCHOORSTEEN is van algemeen cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch en stedenbouwkundig belang:
- vanwege de ouderdom;

Introduction
Factory chimney constructed of yellow radial brick with decorative masonry in red radial brick, built around 1902 at the factory complex (textile) of Jansen & Tilanus on the Overijssels Kanaal. The builder presumably originated from Germany. No other factory chimneys of this type have been preserved in the Netherlands. In the vicinity of the chimney the boiler houses, the director's residence and the factory halls (now partly provided with metal cladding and altered by various interventions and therefore not worthy of protection at national level) have been preserved. The chimney is visible from the distant surroundings.
Description
The now freestanding FACTORY CHIMNEY is placed on a base of red brick (English bond). The former openings in the substructure have been sealed. The foot of the chimney is provided with recessed fields and edges of red radial brick. Recessed fields and decorative masonry in red brick are also present in the lower section of the shaft. The top and the upper 6-7 metres of the chimney were removed in the past.
Valuation
The FACTORY CHIMNEY is of general cultural and architectural historical and urban planning importance:
