Description of complex component 17

Freestanding GREENHOUSE from the end of the nineteenth century on a rectangular floor plan with a masonry base on the north-east side of the vegetable garden, near Parkstraat. Both blind short end gables are entirely built in masonry. Wooden entrance door in right side gable. The ridge direction of the mansard roof runs approximately north-west to south-east. The roof consists of small panes of glass, partly still old blown glass, and is set in profiled glazing bars. Several profile irons serve as ridge beams and several iron tubes serve as supports for the glass roof. Inside on both sides along the parapet there are arranged tablets (work tables). The greenhouse floor is several steps below ground level. In the middle a broad trough (manger) filled with soil. The greenhouse was used, it is assumed, for the cultivation of plants. At the rear of the greenhouse and partly to the right next to the greenhouse a sunken heating room with a masonry chimney has been built. A connection with the lean-to greenhouse has been provided, namely complex component 32.
