Omschrijving
Omschrijving onderdeel 4: BIJGEBOUW MET GROEVE EN NOORDPOORT behorende tot de buitenplaats Neercanne.
Tegen de bergwand achter het hoofdgebouw staat een langgerekt bijgebouw uit het begin van de 17de eeuw. Achter de mergelstenen gevel van één bouwlaag onder een pannen dak bevinden zich enkele ruimten die in de berg zijn uitgehouwen. Deze staan in verbinding met een uitgebreid gangenstelsel, waaronder de Jezuïetengrot, dat zich onder het gehele bos uitstrekt. Twee ruimten komen uit in de groeve waarvan de open ingang zich direct links van het bijgebouw bevindt. Uit de groeve werd het benodigde mergel voor de bouw van het kasteel betrokken. De ruimten werden gebruikt als voor opslag, voorraadkelders en een ijskelder. Bekend is dat één van de ruimten een functie heeft vervuld in een pomp/leidingsysteem voor de tuinvijvers. Thans ingericht als wijnkelder en aperitiefruimte van het restaurant. Schuin boven de entree tot de groeve zijn duivennissen in de bergwand uitgehakt.
De voorgevel van het gebouw wordt regelmatig geleed door rechthoekige venster- en deuropeningen met rechts twee grote dubbele staldeuren onder een houten latei. Alhier springt de gevel iets terug, smallere rechthoekige aanbouw onder een met pannen gedekt lessenaarsdak; in de gevel drie deuren en uiterst rechts een rondboognis met duivengaten.
Aan de noordelijke kant bevindt zich haaks op het bijgebouw een muur van mergelsteen waarin een toegangspoort (NOORDPOORT) uit 1698 waarin het blazoen van Van Dopff is opgenomen. De rondboogvormige doorgang wordt afgesloten middels een dubbel ijzeren spijlenhek waarvan de onderste rand met krulwerk is ingevuld.
Een oude ijskelder voorzien van twee ruimtes: binnenruimte voor blokken ijs en buitenruimte gevuld met hooi voor isolatie (in 1990 bij restauratie teruggevonden).
Waardering
Het BIJGEBOUW MET GROEVE EN NOORDPOORT is van algemeen belang:

Description component 4: OUTBUILDING WITH QUARRY AND NORTH GATEWAY belonging to the country house Neercanne.
Against the hillside behind the main building stands an elongated outbuilding from the early 17th century. Behind the marl stone facade of one storey under a tiled roof are several rooms that have been hewn out in the hill. These are connected to an extensive tunnel system, including the Jesuit's cave, which extends beneath the entire wood. Two rooms open into the quarry whose open entrance is located directly to the left of the outbuilding. The necessary marl for the construction of the castle was extracted from the quarry. The rooms were used for storage, provision cellars and an ice cellar. It is known that one of the rooms served a function in a pump/piping system for the garden ponds. Now fitted out as a wine cellar and aperitif room of the restaurant. Obliquely above the entrance to the quarry pigeon holes have been hewn into the hillside.
The front facade of the building is regularly articulated by rectangular window and door openings with on the right two large double stable doors under a wooden lintel. Here the facade steps back slightly, narrower rectangular extension under a roof covered with tiles in a lean-to style; three doors in the facade and at the far right a round-arched niche with pigeon holes.
On the north side there is at right angles to the outbuilding a marl stone wall in which an access gateway (NORTH GATEWAY) from 1698 in which the blazon of Van Dopff is incorporated. The round-arched passage is closed by means of a double iron bar grille of which the bottom edge is filled with ornamental scrollwork.
An old ice cellar provided with two spaces: interior space for ice blocks and exterior space filled with hay for insulation (found again during restoration in 1990).
