Omschrijving onderdeel 3: POORTGEBOUW ANNEX KASTEELHOEVE behorende tot de buitenplaats Neercanne.
Aan de zuidzijde dwars op de helling staat een vierkant poortgebouw uit 1611 gebouwd in Maaslandse renaissancestijl. Het in mergelsteen en deels in baksteen opgetrokken gebouw met raamomlijstingen in Naamse steen wordt gevormd door een hoektoren en een iets gekromde, haakvormige vleugel waarin een poort is opgenomen.
De hoektoren, die aansluit op de keer- annex terrasmuur, bestaat uit een gesloten, iets verjongende onderbouw, vervolgens twee verdiepingen voorzien van raamopeningen en een met leien gedekte torenhelm begrensd door in- en uitgezwenkte lijnen. De bovenste verdieping is in baksteen uitgevoerd met mergelstenen hoekblokken en afgewerkt met een lijst met consoles.
In de aansluitende vleugel van één bouwlaag onder een met leien gedekt zadeldak was oorspronkelijk ten oosten van de poort de huiskapel ondergebracht, die inwendig nog herkenbaar is aan een overwelfde ruimte. De vleugel heeft aan de binnenplaatszijde meerdere dakkapellen; in het muurwerk rechthoekige vensteropeningen van verschillend formaat; uiterst links een rondboogdeur die toegang verleent tot de overwelfde ruimte, een recht afgesloten deur, uiterst rechts een rondboogdeur met daarboven een oeil de boeuf met spaakroeden en nogmaals een recht gesloten deur. Aan de buitenzijde regelmatig geplaatste dakkapellen en een enkele vensteropening.
Het vierkante poortgebouw bestaat uit twee bouwlagen onder een met leien gedekt tentdak. De rondboogvormige doorgang wordt aan de buitenzijde met een houten poort afgesloten. Aan de binnenplaatszijde is de verdieping in baksteen uitgevoerd met mergelstenen hoekblokken en een kroonlijst met consoles en rozetten. In het muurwerk een gekoppeld venster geflankeerd door een oculus.
Het gebouw is gerestaureerd in 1950 en is thans in gebruik als restaurant.
In het INTERIEUR is van belang de voormalige kapel met zware ronde zuilen/pijlers waarop de gewelven rusten.
Waardering
Het POORTGEBOUW ANNEX KASTEELHOEVE is van algemeen belang:

Description component 3: GATEWAY BUILDING ANNEX CASTLE FARMSTEAD belonging to the country house Neercanne.
On the south side across the slope stands a square gateway building built in 1611 in Maasland Renaissance style. The building, constructed in marl stone and partly in brick with window frames in Namur stone, is formed by a corner tower and a slightly curved, hook-shaped wing in which a gateway is incorporated.
The corner tower, which adjoins the retaining wall annex terrace wall, consists of a closed, slightly tapering basement, followed by two storeys provided with window openings and a roof lantern covered with slates bounded by in- and outswung lines. The uppermost storey is executed in brick with marl stone corner blocks and finished with a cornice with consoles.
In the adjoining wing of one storey under a gabled roof covered with slates, the domestic chapel was originally housed to the east of the gateway, which is still internally recognizable by a vaulted space. The wing has several roof dormers on the courtyard side; rectangular window openings of various sizes in the masonry; at the far left a round-arched door providing access to the vaulted space, a straight-ended door, at the far right a round-arched door with above it an oeil de boeuf with spoke glazing bars and again a straight-closed door. On the exterior regularly positioned roof dormers and a single window opening.
The square gateway building consists of two storeys under a roof covered with slates. The round-arched passage is closed on the outside with a wooden gate. On the courtyard side the storey is executed in brick with marl stone corner blocks and a cornice with consoles and rosettes. In the masonry a coupled window flanked by an oculus.
The building was restored in 1950 and is now in use as a restaurant.
In the INTERIOR the former chapel with heavy round columns/pillars on which the vaults rest is of importance.
