Inleiding
MOLEN. De ronde stenen molen met de naam 'De Verwachting' is in 1848 gebouwd als korenmolen. De molen is omstreeks 1930 onttakeld, waarbij het wiekenkruis, de kap, de stelling en het gaande werk werden verwijderd. De molen werd woning. Tussen 2008 en 2009 is de molen gecompleteerd met kap, stelling, gevlucht, Oud Hollands- en gaande werk tot een maalvaardige korenmolen. Het complex ligt aan de zuidkant van de oude stad, nabij de vroegere stadswal. De molen heeft een prominente plaats in het stadsbeeld.
Omschrijving
De molen bestaat uit de ronde conisch gemetselde bakstenen romp. De uit zes bouwlagen bestaande molen is ter hoogte van de begane grond wit bepleisterd.
Waardering
De molen is van algemeen belang:
- vanwege bouwtechnisch-historische waarden als herkenbare en representatieve ronde stenen korenmolen uit het midden van de 19e eeuw;
- vanwege cultuurhistorische waarden als onderdeel van de geschiedenis van de graanmaalderijen van Nederland en de industriële ontwikkeling van Zeeland en de plaatselijke geschiedenis;
- vanwege situationele waarden betreffende de historische gaafheid van de omgeving;
- vanwege de gaafheid van de molenbiotoop;

MILL. The round stone mill with the name 'De Verwachting' was built in 1848 as a grain mill. The mill was dismantled around 1930, whereby the sails, cap, frame and machinery were removed. The mill became a dwelling. Between 2008 and 2009 the mill was completed with cap, frame, sails, traditional Dutch and machinery to become a working grain mill. The complex lies on the south side of the old town, near the former town wall. The mill has a prominent place in the townscape.

The mill consists of the round conical mortared brick hull. The mill, consisting of six storeys, is plastered white at ground floor level.
