Omschrijving onderdeel 2:
HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG. Omstreeks 1832 door de tuinarchitect Lucas Pieters Roodbaard aangelegd park in landschapsstijl, gerealiseerd op een lange smalle kavel aan de ZO-zijde van het toen ter tijd gebouwde hoofdgebouw. Ondanks de ruimtelijke beperkingen van dit terrein buitte Roodbaard de ruimtelijke mogelijkheden geheel uit door de aanleg van een sterk slingerende waterpartij die door een groot deel van de aanleg voert en die, vanwege de coulisseachtige entourage van een sterk welhaast sculpturaal geaccidenteerd terrein met een strak patroon van slingerpaden, het perspectief in het park een sterk suggestieve dieptewerking meegeeft en zo appelleert aan gevoelens van verwondering, verassing en verwachting van de wandelaar. De aanleg is naar buiten toe door genoemde accidentatie en beplantingsschema's afgesloten, hetgeen typerend is voor veel parken van de hand van Roodbaard. Even voor de helft van de waterpartij wordt deze overbrugd door een sierlijke smeedijzeren brug uit de aanlegtijd van het park (complexonderdeel 3). Het park werd vanaf 1986, toen ook het hoofdgebouw werd gerestaureerd, door Noord Peil landschapsarchitecten gerestaureerd.

HISTORICAL GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT. Park in landscape style laid out circa 1832 by landscape architect Lucas Pieters Roodbaard, realised on a long narrow plot on the SE side of the main house built at that time. Despite the spatial limitations of this terrain, Roodbaard fully exploited the spatial possibilities through the layout of a strongly winding water feature that runs through a large part of the design and which, because of the coulisse-like setting of a strongly almost sculptural articulated terrain with a strict pattern of winding paths, gives the perspective in the park a strong suggestive depth effect and thus appeals to feelings of wonder, surprise and expectation of the walker. The design is closed off towards the outside by the aforementioned articulation and planting schemes, which is characteristic of many parks from the hand of Roodbaard. Just before the midpoint of the water feature it is bridged by an elegant wrought-iron bridge from the time of the park's layout (complex component 3). The park was restored from 1986 onwards, when the main house was also restored, by Noord Peil landscape architects.
