Omschrijving
HOOFDGEBOUW (Kasteel Neubourg).
- wegens de ouderdom;
- wegens de architectonische vormgeving;
- de rijkdom aan historische materialen, constructies en detaillering in zowel het exterieur als het interieur;
- op basis van de bouwhistorische en architectuurhistorische waarde;

Description
Description
MAIN BUILDING (Castle Neubourg). Originally in the form of a U, with the open side facing east, and located on a moated site (together with a northerly situated farm building, here referred to as first farm building or fore-courtyard), the oldest work dating from the 14th century. Renovation in 1732 under the direction of Johann Conrad Schlaun. Renovated again around 1774 at the commission of Leon. Bern. de Hayme, executed by Bartholomé Digneffe. Around the middle of the 19th century the east wing was built (architect V. Evrard from Brussels) and the inner courtyard was covered over. The undercellar main building is constructed in brick with accents in marl (corner blocks, friezes) and hard stone (window and entrance surrounds). The three wings of the U have three storeys above the cellar storey, are covered with a slate hipped roof and comprise an inner courtyard (covered with glass in the middle of the 19th century). Lower intermediate wing with stepped gable and mansard roof on the east side of the inner courtyard, on the south-west corner an angle tower with composite spire with slate. The original front facade to the forecourt has a narrow flight of steps and a central section with marl-stone pilasters and cornice. Between the pilasters three elliptical arch entrances in hard stone surrounds, on the main floor three balcony doors with wrought-iron railings in Louis XV style with in a crowned medallion L(eon) B(ernard) D(e) H(ayme); elsewhere comparable railings without initials. Original small glazing bars in virtually all windows. Wooden spiral staircase with iron baluster shafts from cellar to ground floor (first half of the 18th century), above it a staircase with stucco ceiling and dove (mid-19th century). Main staircase with broad wooden staircase furnished with wrought-iron balustrade in Louis XVI style and stucco ceiling (early 19th century). Further internally among others marble Louis XV chimney mantels, similarly in Régence style with slate parquet and cast-iron fire plates, copper hearth surround etc. Stucco ceilings in Louis XV style, alcoves, timber panelling, painted overdoors on canvas with various depictions (second half of the 18th century). In the tower among others remains of a wooden spiral staircase, two doors (17th century).
Valuation
The MAIN BUILDING (Castle Neubourg) is of general importance:
- on account of its age;
- on account of its architectural design;
- the wealth of historical materials, constructions and detailing in both the exterior and interior;
- on the basis of construction-historical and architectural-historical value;
- as compositional centrepiece and on account of the distinctive location within the historic garden and park layout in English landscape style.
