Het ERF van het boerderijcomplex 'Herberg van Friesland' vertoont niet de gebruikelijke opzet van een boerenerf in deze streek, maar is een inmiddels vrij zeldzaam voorbeeld van een boerderij met erf gelegen binnen de dorpsstructuur. De boerderij vormt dan ook een onderdeel van de bebouwing als afsluiting van de noordelijke wand van De Brink. Het eigenlijke erf ligt achter de boerderij en links hiervan. Achter de boerderij is nog een betrekkelijk ondiepe strook grond over. Hierop is na 1962 een houten wagenschuur gebouwd; deze schuur is niet van waarde uit het oogpunt van monumentenzorg. In 1962 stond op deze plaats nog een hooiberg. Links naast de boerderij is nog een forse open ruimte. Hier is in 1900 een grote, vrijstaande stenen stal gebouwd. De functie van deze open groene ruimte zal die van boomgaard annex moestuin zijn geweest. Op de zeer smalle strook grond die aan de rechterzijde van de boerderij resteert staat een leilinde.

Description
The FARMYARD of the farm complex 'Herberg van Friesland' does not show the usual layout of a farm yard in this region, but is nowadays a rather rare example of a farmstead with yard situated within the village structure. The farmhouse thus forms part of the buildings as a closure of the northern side of De Brink. The actual yard lies behind the farmhouse and to the left of it. Behind the farmhouse there is still a relatively shallow strip of land. On this, after 1962 a wooden wagon shed was built; this shed is not of value from the point of view of monument preservation. In 1962 a hay barn still stood in this place. To the left next to the farmhouse there is still a substantial open space. Here in 1900 a large, detached stone stable was built. The function of this open green space will have been that of an orchard together with a kitchen garden. On the very narrow strip of land that remains on the right side of the farmhouse stands a linden tree.
