Omschrijving onderdeel 1:

Description component 1:

MAIN BUILDING MANOR HOUSE DE MOEREN. Red brick basement house on rectangular ground plan with a high-pitched grey-tiled gabled roof with a square chimney on the ridge ends and centrally on the ridge a wooden bell tower with bell. The house was constructed in a single building campaign between 1817 and 1819, after the house had come into the possession of G.G. van der Hoeven. The account book from the Van der Hoeven family archive records payments to the following employees: Cornelis Beliars the carpenter, Wouter van Beek mason, Van Ertrijck for the bell and stone, Cornelis Schrauwe for clay to bake stone from 1817 and 1818, Geert Adriaense for carrying nineteen thousand bricks (1819). Centrally facing the public road the entrance section, preceded by a simple landing of two hardstone steps, consisting of a panelled door with fanlight with garlands (Louis XVI), surrounded by pilasters and closed off by a main cornice. The pilasters rest on a hardstone plinth with inscription: on the left: G.G. V.D. Hoeven and on the right: Anno 1818. On either side of the main entrance two empire 6-paned sash windows. On the first floor five windows located on the bays, identical but slightly smaller. On the main bay furthermore a 16-paned dormer window, framed by pilasters and main cornice. As on the rear side, the gable is closed off by monumental moulding with gutter. Right side gable: on the ground floor slightly left of centre a 35-paned sash window and to the right of this at basement level two small windows with theft bars. On the first floor a multi-paned sash window as on the first floor at the front. On the second floor five 6-paned sash windows. Left side gable: on the ground floor four 6-paned sash windows. On the first floor likewise four 6-paned sash windows but slightly smaller. On the second floor three 20-paned sash windows. The rear gable shows an irregular arrangement with on the right side a monumental empire door section, consisting of a double terrace door with semicircular fanlight with radial glazing bars surrounded by moulding with pilasters with a cornice supported by scrolls. In the fields between cornice, fanlight and pilasters a carved fan motif. To the left of this a door with 2-paned fanlight and on the left side a 35-paned sash window. On the first floor two 30-paned sash windows. At roof height on the central bay a dormer window as at the front. The windows on the ground floor and on the first floor and the terrace door are provided with shutters.

The main building House de Moeren is of general cultural-historical importance because of:

- the age

- the sober and robust design

- the intactness

- the striking central positioning within the historic garden and park layout.
