Inleiding
Het huidige huis of kasteel Cortenbach dankt zijn uiterlijk hoofdzakelijk aan een (ver)bouwcampagne uit 1776.
Omschrijving
Het KASTEEL CORTENBACH is in baksteen opgetrokken U-vormig gebouw bestaande uit souterrain, twee bouwlagen en een kapverdieping. Hoekblokken, omlijstingen, goten, fronton enz. zijn uitgevoerd in mergel en hardsteen. Het gebroken schilddak is gedekt met leien.
De symmetrische voorgevel telt zeven traveeën. De middelste drie traveeën, met centraal de ingang, bevinden zich in een risaliet bekroond door een fronton. Het fronton bevat gekroonde alliantiewapens (Lamberts de Cortenbach/de Veijder-Malberg) met wapendragers. De achtergevel is eveneens symmetrisch. Het teruggelegen gedeelte telt vijf traveeën, de middelste drie vergelijkbaar aan de voorgevel; het fronton heeft echter geen vlakvulling. Aan weerszijden steken korte vleugels met een blind front naar voren.
Het kasteel is onderkelderd. Onder de zaal een grote ruimte met troggewelven. Op de bel-etage een centrale middengang (marmeren vloer) met links een vertrek met stucplafond met vakverdeling tussen twee balken; daarnaast de in hout uitgevoerde trap met decoratieve trappaal (XIX). Rechts de zaal (eiken parketvloer met diverse motieven) met eveneens een stucplafond met vakverdeling tussen twee balken. In de vleugels kleinere vertrekken. Op de verdieping globaal dezelfde indeling. Op zolder gedeelten van eikenhouten raamwerken van wanden. Verder in het gehele pand onder andere stucplafonds, marmeren schouwen enz.

Castello CORTENBACH is a U-shaped building constructed in brick, consisting of a basement, two storeys and an attic storey. Corner blocks, surrounds, gutters, pediment etc. are executed in marl and hard stone. The broken hipped roof is covered with slates.
The symmetrical front facade has seven bays. The central three bays, with the entrance at the centre, are located in a risalit crowned by a pediment. The pediment contains crowned alliance coats of arms (Lamberts de Cortenbach/de Veijder-Malberg) with heraldic supporters. The rear facade is likewise symmetrical. The recessed section has five bays, the central three comparable to the front facade; the pediment, however, has no surface filling. On either side short wings with a blind front project forward.
