Omschrijving onderdeel 1: Langgevelboerderij
Inleiding
LANGGEVELBOERDERIJ OP RESTANTEN VAN KASTEEL HERLAER, daterend van XIV-XIXB. De boerderij is opgetrokken in Ambachtelijk-traditionele stijl en ligt met bijgebouwen in U-vorm op een verhoging in de weilanden, omzoomd door 6 forse linden. Sporen van een gracht.
Omschrijving
De eenlaagse langgevelboerderij, oorspronkelijk met dwarsdeel op nagenoeg rechthoekige plattegrond, is boven een grijs geschilderde plint opgetrokken uit witgeschilderde handvormbaksteen in kruisverband. In de fundamenten zijn kloostermoppen verwerkt. Het rieten schilddak heeft stroken van gesmoorde Hollandse golfpannen. Op de scheiding van woon- en bedrijfsgedeelte een gemetselde schoorsteen op de nok. Nokvorsten. Grote verscheidenheid aan ca. XXm vernieuwde, onregelmatig geplaatste vensters. De oorspronkelijke woning, ongeveer in het midden gelegen, heeft een centrale deur met bovenlicht en aan weerszijden vensters met strekken en luiken. Geheel rechts is in de voormalige korenschuur een tweede woning ingericht. Hier twee ijzeren stalramen en twee nieuwe vensters. Geheel links bevindt zich de schuur met hooizolder. Hierin twee deuren en enkele ijzeren stalramen, lange staafankers met twee stroppen. Uiterst links het bouwspoor van de dichtgezette, oorspronkelijk segmentboogvormige deeldeuren. In de korte gevel links een deur, aan weerszijden een zesdelig ijzeren stalraam. Op de hooizolder een laadluik. Staafankers en rechts een X-vormig anker. Aan de achtergevel ter plaatse van de schuur twee segmentboogvormige zesdelige betonnen stalramen, lange staafankers. Onder de dakrand in grijze verf de tekst OUT-HERLAER. Verder ter plaatse van de woningen zes grote vensters. Vier lage steunberen stutten het golvende muurwerk. In de rechter kopgevel een nieuw venster (XXc). Doorlopende fundamenten met muur naar stalgebouw.
Binnen zijn eiken moerbalken in de muren opgelegd. Daarop staan zeven eiken driehoeksspantjukken met schoren en twee spruitbalken, gehakte telmerken I-VII.
Waardering
De langgevelboerderij uit XIXB op restanten van het kasteel Herlaer uit XIV e.v. is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een langgevelboerderij die voortgekomen is uit een kasteel en daar ook in naam aan herinnert. Het pand heeft architectuurhistorische waarde vanwege de in- en uitwendig gaaf behouden hoofdstructuur en het traditionele materiaalgebruik alsmede vanwege onderdelen van het interieur. Het pand heeft bouwhistorische waarde vanwege de gecompliceerde bouwgeschiedenis. Het is historisch van betekenis als herinnering aan de tijd van het feodalisme. Het pand vormt met de landschappelijke verhoging, de resten van de omgrachting, de bijgebouwen en het hoge geboomte temidden van de weilanden een waardevol landschappelijk en monumentaal ensemble.

LONG-FACADE FARMHOUSE ON REMAINS OF CASTLE HERLAER, dating from 14th-second half of 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed in craftsman-traditional style and is situated with outbuildings in U-form on a raised area in the meadows, bordered by 6 sturdy lime trees. Traces of a moat.
Description
The single-storey long-facade farmhouse, originally with transverse section on an approximately rectangular plan, is constructed above a grey-painted plinth from whitewashed hand-moulded brick in English bond. Monastery bricks are incorporated in the foundations. The thatched hipped roof has strips of smothered Dutch roof tiles. On the division between residential and business sections a brick chimney on the ridge. Ridge boards. Great variety of approximately 20th-century renewed, irregularly placed windows. The original dwelling, positioned approximately in the middle, has a central door with fanlight and on either side windows with stretches and shutters. Far right, a second dwelling has been fitted out in the former grain barn. Here two iron stable windows and two new windows. Far left is the barn with hay loft. Within this two doors and several iron stable windows, long bar wall anchors with two straps. At the far left the building trace of the closed, originally segmental-arch shaped paired doors. In the short gable on the left a door, on either side a six-light iron stable window. On the hay loft a loading hatch. Bar wall anchors and on the right an X-shaped anchor. On the rear gable at the location of the barn two segmental-arch shaped six-light concrete stable windows, long bar wall anchors. Under the eave in grey paint the text OUT-HERLAER. Further at the location of the dwellings six large windows. Four low buttresses support the undulating masonry. In the right end gable a new window (20th century). Continuous foundations with wall to stable building.
Inside, oak tie beams are laid in the walls. Upon these stand seven oak triangular collar tie trusses with braces and two collar beams, carved carpenters' marks I-VII.
