Inleiding
De SLUISWACHTERSWONING annex GEMAAL, onderdeel van het sluiscomplex Haarlemmervaart, is gesitueerd aan de Haarlemmervaart, parallel aan de Ringdijk ter hoogte van het kruispunt waar het voormalige spoor een aftakking had naar de Markthallen. Het gebouw is gescheiden door water en een strook land aan de Haarlemmervaart. Het is gebouwd in 1884 in een eclectische stijl met neo-renaissance invloeden.
Omschrijving
De sluiswachterswoning annex gemaal is met de hoofdfaçade naar de Haarlemmervaart gekeerd. Het is een rechthoekig gebouw met twee bouwlagen en kapverdieping, in baksteen opgetrokken met siersteenbanden rondom en voorzien van een grijs pannen gedekt zadeldak. De toegang bevindt zich symmetrisch in de façade met ter weerszijden rondboogramen. De verdieping is gescheiden door een van andreaskruizen voorziene sierlijst en voorzien van drie rechthoekige ramen. Het middenrisaliet heeft een tuitvormige topgevel en muizentandfriezen. De twee zijgevels zijn vrijwel identiek en voorzien van middenrisalieten met puntvormige topgevels die de daklijst doorbreken en een zijde met halfrond bovenlicht. Ook hier zijn de vensters en de toegangen op de begane grond rondboogvormig en op de verdieping in het middenrisaliet voorzien van een rechthoekige raam. De achtergevel is geheel vlak en voorzien van twee paar ramen en een tuitgevel met getrapt fries en rondvenster in top. De meeste vensters hebben een houten onderverdeling.

Sluiswachterswoning annex gemaal uit 1884, van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde als grotendeels gaaf bewaard voorbeeld van een eclectisch-renaissancistische dienstwoning met bijbehorende werkruimten uit de late negentiende eeuw ten dienste van de waterbeheersing en als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het sluiscomplex.

The LOCKKEEPER'S DWELLING together with PUMPING STATION, part of the Haarlemmervaart lock complex, is situated on the Haarlemmervaart, parallel to the Ringdijk at the point where the former railway had a branch towards the Markthallen. The building is separated by water and a strip of land from the Haarlemmervaart. It was built in 1884 in an eclectic style with neo-renaissance influences.
Description
The lockkeeper's dwelling together with pumping station has its main facade facing the Haarlemmervaart. It is a rectangular building with two storeys and attic storey, constructed in brickwork with ornamental brick bands around it and covered with a grey tile gabled roof. The entrance is located symmetrically in the facade with round-arch windows on either side. The storey is separated by an ornamental moulding decorated with St. Andrew's crosses and features three rectangular windows. The central risalit has a spout-shaped gable with dentil friezes. The two side facades are virtually identical and feature central risalits with pointed gables that break through the roof line with a side having a semi-circular fanlight. Here too the windows and ground floor entrances are round-arch shaped and on the storey in the central risalit provided with a rectangular window. The rear facade is completely plain and features two pairs of windows and a spout gable with stepped frieze and circular window at the top. Most windows have wooden glazing bar divisions.
