Inleiding
Ketelhuis, onderdeel van het complex Westergasfabriek Het gebouw werd in 1901 gerealiseerd als ketelhuis bij de op de uiterste westpunt van het terrein gelegen ammoniakfabriek die tot het oorspronkelijke complex behoorde maar na het stopzetten van de ammoniakproductie in 1933 werd gesloopt.
Omschrijving
Het rechthoekige ketelhuis onder met pannen gedekt zadeldak had aanvankelijk aan de zuidzijde een vrijstaande schoorsteen en is relatief eenvoudig van uitvoering; de belangrijkste decoratieve elementen zijn de lisenen en spaarvelden en de gemetselde tandlijsten aan de langsgevels. De raampartijen zijn thans door het aanbrengen van glazen bouwstenen en het doortrekken naar beneden, gewijzigd waardoor het ketelhuis een ander aanzien heeft gekregen. Inwendig is aan drie zijden een entresol ingebouwd. Inwendig is het een ongedeelde ruimte met de drie Polonceauspanten met houten bovenranden en gietijzeren drukstaven in het zicht.
Waardering
Voormalig ketelhuis (ammoniak) van algemeen belang vanwege de typologische waarde en als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het complex Westergasfabriek. Door de diverse wijzigingen is de waarde van het gebouw thans vooral gelegen in de ruimtelijke werking van het interieur en de fraaie Polonceauspanten.

Boiler house, component of the Westergasfabriek complex The building was realised in 1901 as a boiler house for the ammonia factory situated at the far western point of the site which belonged to the original complex but was demolished after ammonia production was halted in 1933.
Description
The rectangular boiler house covered on top with a tiled gabled roof originally had a free-standing chimney on the south side and is relatively simple in execution; the most important decorative elements are the pilasters and spandrels and the moulded dental strings on the long facades. The window arrangements have now been modified by the application of glass blocks and extension downwards, as a result of which the boiler house has acquired a different appearance. Internally an entresol has been built in on three sides. Internally it is an undivided space with the three Polonceau roof trusses with wooden upper members and cast-iron struts in view.
Valuation
Former boiler house (ammonia) of general importance because of the typological value and as a historic-functional component of the Westergasfabriek complex. Due to the various alterations the value of the building now lies especially in the spatial effect of the interior and the fine Polonceau roof trusses.
