Inleiding
Het zuid-oostelijk BOUWBLOK (C) van het woningbouwcomplex Patrimonium is gesitueerd aan de Oostzaanstraat en de Hembrugstraat. Het L-vormige blok heeft de kopse kant van de korte poot (Noord) tegen de belendende bebouwing en de andere kopse kant (West) aan een klein, trapeziumvormig, plein dat wordt afgesloten door een poortgebouw van de binnenring. Het blok in Rationalistische trant stamt uit de jaren 1918-1919.
Omschrijving
Het bouwblok heeft vier bouwlagen en een zolder onder (afgewolfde) schild- en zadeldaken en is in bakstenen kruisverband opgetrokken op een L-vormige plattegrond, de etagewoningen gegroepeerd rondom de bebouwing van de binnenring van de Zaanhof. De gevel aan de Oostzaanstraat heeft één portiek met buitentrap, met aan weerszijden twee traveeën. De topgevel bevindt zich, in afwijking van het schema, boven de buitenste travee rechts, in aansluiting op de bouwnaad. Links in dit deel van het bouwblok is een eenvoudige rechtgesloten portiek gesitueerd met rechts twee en links één travee. De meest linker travee op de hoek heeft een erker over twee bouwlagen onder een topgevel. De gevel aan de Hembrugstraat heeft een uitspringend deel met een portiek onder topgevel met aan weerszijden twee traveeën, volgens schema. In het bouwblokdeel rechts hiervan hetzelfde schema nog een keer maar met in de hoektravee een erker over twee verdiepingen onder een topgevel. Links van het uitspringende deel bevindt zich in de oksel een uitgebouwd trappenhuis onder een lessenaardak en één travee. Het uitgebouwde trappenhuis heeft een luifel boven één van de twee deuren en een natuurstenen sculptuur van een uil. Overhoeks, aan het kleine pleintje, bevinden zich drie vensterassen en telt het bouwblok een verdieping minder. Een topgevel op de hoek knikt mee met de afgeschuinde hoek, ter breedte van één vensteras, en wordt bekroond door een natuurstenen roofvogel. Deze gevel is identiek als die aan de overzijde (blok B) De achtergevels hebben uitspringende volumes van drie vensterassen breed, onder steekkappen, geflankeerd door hoge schoorstenen. De hoeken zijn eveneens uitspringend. Tussen de hoeken en de uitspringende volumes bevinden zich balkons. De trappenhuizen in de uitspringende volumes hebben een liggend, ovaal trapvenster. The south-eastern BUILDING BLOCK (C) of the Patrimonium housing complex is situated on the Oostzaanstraat and the Hembrugstraat. The L-shaped block has the gabled end of the short arm (North) against the adjacent building and the other gabled end (West) at a small, trapezoidal, square which is enclosed by a gatehouse of the inner ring. Description
The building block has four storeys and a loft under hipped and gabled roofs (half-hipped) and is constructed in stretcher bond brickwork on an L-shaped plan, the apartment buildings grouped around the inner ring development of the Zaanhof. The facade at the Oostzaanstraat has one entrance hall with external stairs, with two bays on either side. The stepped gable is located, in deviation from the schema, above the outermost bay to the right, in line with the construction joint. To the left in this section of the building block is a simple straight-headed entrance hall situated with two bays to the right and one to the left. The leftmost bay at the corner has a bay window over two storeys under a stepped gable. The facade at the Hembrugstraat has a projecting section with an entrance hall under a stepped gable with two bays on either side, according to the schema. In the building block section to the right of this the same schema once more but with in the corner bay a bay window over two storeys under a stepped gable. To the left of the projecting section is located in the pocket an extended staircase building under a sloping roof and one bay. The corners are also projecting. Between the corners and the projecting volumes are located balconies. The staircases in the projecting volumes have a horizontal, oval staircase window. The rear facade perpendicular to the trapezoidal square has mortared balconies on bevelled consoles.
Valuation
The south-eastern residential block (C) of the Patrimonium complex is of general importance due to its cultural and architectural-historical value as a characteristic and historically-functional example of large-scale working-class housing construction from the early years of the twentieth century, as well as due to ensemble value in relation to the neighbouring buildings.
