Omschrijving onderdeel 4
POORT EN HEKKEN. Het ensemble van poorten en hekken bestaat uit: a. toegangspoort en ijzeren hekwerk b. inrijhek met dam. c. hek in oprijlaan. d. twee hekken als toegang tot de tuin. Ad. a. deze poort, XVIII-XIX, vormt de toegang tot de binnenplaats en staat aan het eind van de toegangsbrug en sluit aan op de zuidwestpunt van het dienstgebouw. De monumentale klassicistische poort met hardstenen omlijsting is gevat tussen twee zware vierkante pijlers in baksteen en mergel; in het midden boven de poort aan de brugzijde een hardstenen wapensteen; bovenzijde van de poort met pijlers een architraaf met fries in mergel gedekt door rijke kroonlijst. In de oostelijke pijler aan de binnenplaatszijde een hondehok. Een hoog ijzeren hekwerk met vergulde speerpunten verbindt de poort met de zuidgevel van het kasteel; het hek staat op een borstwering van mergel. Ad. b. het inrijhek met dam, XVIII, vormt de toegang tot het complex vanaf de Kasteel Wijlreweg. Op de dam met wangen en lage borstweringen (alles in mergel), die kwartrond eindigen aan de weg, staan twee vierkante pijlers met rijke mergelbekroningen; pijlers van baksteen met verspringende hoekblokken in mergel; aansluitend zijwangen in mergel; smeedijzeren hekvleugels, spijlen met puntbeëindiging, bovenregels in het midden voluutvormig eindigend. Ad. c. Tegenover het inrijhek aan de andere kant van de weg staat in de oprijlaan een identiek hek, doch zonder wangen en hekvleugels. Ad. d. vanaf het korte stuk oprit tussen brug (complexonderdeel 5) en toegangshek geven twee identieke hekken, XIX-XX, links en rechts toegang tot de nieuwe siertuinen; vierkante pijlers in mergel met eenvoudige dekplaat; de terra cotta vazen erop zijn nieuw; eenvoudige ijzeren hekken met vergulde punten.

GATEWAY AND RAILINGS. The ensemble of gateways and railings consists of: a. entrance gateway and iron railings b. entrance gate with dam. c. gate in approach drive. d. two gates as access to the garden. Re. a. this gate, 18th-19th century, forms the access to the courtyard and stands at the end of the access bridge and connects to the southwest corner of the service building. The monumental classical gateway with stone surround is set between two heavy square piers in brick and marl; in the middle above the gateway on the bridge side a stone armorial stone; top of gateway with piers an architrave with frieze in marl covered by rich cornice. In the eastern pier on the courtyard side a dog kennel. A high iron railing with gilded spear points connects the gate to the south facade of the castle; the railing stands on a balustrade of marl. Re. b. the entrance gate with dam, 18th century, forms the access to the complex from the Kasteel Wijlreweg. On the dam with sides and low balustrades (all in marl), which end in quarter-rounds at the road, stand two square piers with rich marl finials; piers of brick with projecting corner blocks in marl; connecting side walls in marl; wrought-iron gate leaves, spikes with pointed termination, top rails in the middle ending in scroll form. Re. c. Opposite the entrance gate on the other side of the road stands in the approach drive an identical gate, but without sides and gate leaves. Re. d. from the short stretch of drive between bridge (complex component 5) and entrance gate two identical gates, 19th-20th century, on left and right give access to the new ornamental gardens; square piers in marl with simple coping; the terra cotta vases on them are new; simple iron gates with gilded points.
