Description of component 1: MAIN BUILDING (Vroenhof).

Direct on the Herenweg lies the notary's residence, built in 1865 in eclectic style and originally formed by a block-shaped brick house (the current central section) with plaster and hard stone plinth; consisting of a ground floor and a bel-étage under a gently sloping hipped roof covered with dampened roof tiles in Meuse bond (originally a zinc roof with glazing bars) with corner chimneys. On either side were small outbuildings, which between 1920 and 1930 were replaced by the current two-storey side wings under a flat roof, which recede somewhat in relation to the central section. The facades of the main building are provided with stuccoed corner pilasters and a cornice with cast consoles. The five-bay wide, representative front facade features rich decoration (in particular on the bel-étage) with stuccoed window surrounds provided with cast pediments, plastered corner pilasters and a heavy cornice with consoles; the ground floor is plastered in a natural stone rustication imitation; the stuccoed central bay has centrally a slightly arched, wooden access (panel) door with cast iron framework; above it on the bel-étage a wooden balcony with consoles and richly worked balusters, double balcony doors with fanlight; and in the roof gable a wooden roof dormer across the width of three bays with mezzanine windows, the middle one with round-arched fanlight and wooden ornamental coping. The remaining window axes are constructed from a four-pane sash window and a fenêtre à terre on the bel-étage. Crowning of the front facade with two zinc vases at the corners. The soberly executed rear facade likewise has on the ground floor four-pane sash windows (and later-applied terrace doors); on the bel-étage at the far left two fenêtres à terre and on the right three rear-facing windows.
