Omschrijving
HEK behorende tot de buitenplaats Rhijnestein. Het hek bevindt zich thans (2005) in verwaarloosde toestand langs de Nieuwe weg. Er bestaan plannen om het hek te laten restaureren en op te stellen op de overgang Beukenlaan-Oude laan. Over de oorspronkelijke positionering van het hek zijn geen gegevens bekend.
Het betreft een 18de-eeuws ijzeren hek bestaande uit twee middenvleugels en twee zijstukken. De oorspronkelijke pijlers zijn verloren gegaan. De middenvleugels bestaan uit verticale spijlen aan de onderzijde verbonden door een rechte ligger en aan de bovenzijde door een accoladevormige ligger. In het midden heeft ieder hek de helft van een cirkelvormig ornament dat in gesloten toestand één geheel vormt.
De beide zijstukken bestaan eveneens uit spijlen bijeengehouden door een grote, voluutvormige ligger.

Het HEK is van algemeen belang vanwege:

GATE belonging to the country estate Rhijnestein. The gate is presently (2005) in neglected condition along the Nieuwe weg. There are plans to have the gate restored and erected at the junction Beukenlaan-Oude laan. No data are known about the original positioning of the gate.
This concerns an 18th-century iron gate consisting of two centre panels and two side pieces. The original pillars have been lost. The centre panels consist of vertical spikes at the base connected by a straight beam and at the top by an accolade-shaped beam. In the middle each gate has half of a circular ornament which in closed position forms a complete whole.
Both side pieces consist likewise of spikes held together by a large, volute-shaped beam.
Valuation
The GATE is of general importance because of:
- the architectural-historical value as an example of an 18th-century gate;
- the decorative value for the country estate;
- the functional-spatial relationship with the other complex components.
