Historical PARK AND GARDEN LAYOUT belonging to the country estate Rhijnestein largely laid out in a modest manner at the end of the nineteenth century in landscape style. In the layout important structural elements from before 1807 have been preserved, namely the moat surrounding the main building, which is connected to the Kromme Rijn, the access drive to the west of the forecourt, the Oude Laan and the orchard. At the end of the nineteenth century the Nieuwe Weg was created and a park woodland (including pedunculate oak, ash, beech) was laid out in landscape style on the triangular area enclosed by the Nieuwe Weg and the Oude Laan. From the house various sight lines were created in the park and garden layout. The layout from the nineteenth century also includes the garden on the forecourt (with tree groups and specimens in landscape style, including plane tree, oak, beech, lime), the decorative garden located behind the house with horse-chestnut pergola and kitchen garden. The boulevard, located in the decorative garden behind the house, was modified around 1910 in formal style from an originally flowing path into a straight path running parallel along the Kromme Rijn, marked out with box hedges and clipped hedges. On the east side two wooden bridges were realised over the moat to the boulevard and pergola. From the beginning of this century dates the circular rose garden, divided into sections and originally bordered by box hedges, now marked out with a brick edge.

The structure of the park layout is determined by the principal avenues, mostly planted with pedunculate oak - which separate open meadowland, park woodland, and decorative garden, kitchen garden and orchard -, sight lines, moat and the Kromme Rijn. The Beukenlaan-Oude Laan is oriented east-west and runs parallel to the Kromme Rijn. At right angles to this is a second axis, the avenue along the forecourt, the access to the country estate, with in extension turning off in an easterly direction the Nieuwe Weg. The access route and the Oude Laan, which determine the structure of the park layout in landscape style in an important respect, connect to a section of the moat.
