Inleiding
Omstreeks 1910 werden in het buitengebied van de gemeente Beesel, het zogenoemde Meerlebroek, een vijftal ontginningsboerderijen gebouwd in de stijl van de Hollandse hallehuis-boerderijen.
Deze St. Willibrordushoeve betreft het meest gave exemplaar. Aan de linkerzijgevel werd in 1970 een kleine melkkamer met plat dak aangebouwd.
Omschrijving
Vrijstaande boerderij op een rechthoekige plattegrond. De boerderij telt één, deels twee bouwlagen onder een wolfsdak met mulden pannen. Het woonhuis is dwars op het stalgedeelte geplaatst. Het toegepaste bouwmateriaal is baksteen met metselwerk in kruisverband. Rechthoekige vensters en deuren met segmentboogvormige bovenlichten. De woonhuisvensters zijn vernieuwd in kunststof . Asymmetrische indeling voorgevel. De voordeur bevond zich oorspronkelijk iets meer naar links. Thans aan de linkerzijde van de voordeur drie vensters en aan de rechterzijde twee vensters. In de tweede bouwlaag vier vensters. Twee kleine keldervensters . Smeedijzeren schootankers. Bakstenen dorpelstenen. Muizetand metselwerk onder de dakrand.
In de linker- en rechterzijgevel kleine bakstenen steunberen met hiertussen ijzeren stalvensters. Aan het linkerdeel van de linkerzijgevel een aangebouwde melkkamer (1970). In het middendeel van de rechterzijgevel een houten stalpoort. In de achtergevel aan de linkerzijde een segmentboogvormige houten schuurpoort. In het rechterdeel van de achtergevel twee staldeuren en twee stalvensters. Een oorspronkelijke staldeur is veranderd in een klein venster. In de tweede bouwlaag een houten hooizolderluik.
De indeling van het interieur van het woonhuisgedeelte werd omstreeks 1954 aangepast: kelder en opkamer zijn nog authentiek. Het interieur van het bedrijfsgedeelte van de boerderij werd eveneens gemoderniseerd.
Waardering
De Sint Willibrordushoeve is van algemeen belang. De boerderij bezit cultuurhistorische waarde vanwege het belang voor de ontginningsgeschiedenis van het Meerlebroek. Architectuurhistorische waarde ontleent de boerderij aan de vormgeving, constructie en indeling die sterk afwijkt van het gangbare Limburgse boerderijtype. De boerderij bezit ensemblewaarde vanwege de ligging in het uitgestrekte Meerlebroek: een landbouwgebied dat in het eerste kwart van de 20ste eeuw werd ontgonnen. Description
Detached farmstead on a rectangular ground plan. The farmstead comprises one, partly two storeys under a half-hipped roof with barrel tiles. The dwelling house is placed transversely to the livestock section. The building material used is brickwork with masonry in bond. Rectangular windows and doors with segmental arch fanlights. The dwelling house windows have been renewed in plastic. Asymmetrical arrangement of front facade. The front door was originally positioned slightly more to the left. Currently on the left side of the front door three windows and on the right side two windows. In the second storey four windows. Two small cellar windows. Wrought iron wall anchors. Brick threshold stones. Sawtooth masonry under the roof edge.
In the left and right side gables small brick buttresses with iron livestock windows between them. On the left section of the left side gable an attached milking room (1970). In the centre section of the right side gable a wooden livestock door. On the rear facade on the left side a segmental arch wooden barn door. In the right section of the rear facade two livestock doors and two livestock windows. An original livestock door has been converted into a small window. In the second storey a wooden hayloft door.
The layout of the interior of the dwelling house section was adapted around 1954: the cellar and upper room remain authentic. The interior of the business section of the farmstead was also modernised.
Valuation
The Sint Willibrordushoeve is of general importance. The farmstead possesses cultural-historical value because of its significance for the reclamation history of the Meerlebroek. The farmstead derives architectural-historical value from its design, construction and layout which differs significantly from the common Limburg farmstead type. The farmstead possesses ensemble value because of its location in the extensive Meerlebroek: an agricultural area that was reclaimed in the first quarter of the 20th century. The farmstead is also of importance because of the high degree of cultural-historical and architectural-historical rarity.
