Inleiding
Rechts van de eerder beschreven varkensstal staat een uit de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw daterende KARNMOLEN. De karnmolen behoorde bij de vroeger op deze locatie staande boerderij welke in verband met de nieuwbouw uit 1912 kort daarvoor werd gesloopt. Vanaf ca. 1920 was de karnmolen in gebruik als paardenstal. In 1957 werd het rieten dak vernieuwd.
Vanwege de typologie, architectonische uitvoering en de wijze van aandrijving is deze karnmolen een unicum in het zuiden van Nederland. De aandrijving geschiedde door een koe, dit in tegenstelling tot de doorgaans gebruikelijke aandrijving met paarden (rosmolen) of honden. Een dergelijk type karnmolen is slechts bekend uit West-Vlaanderen.
Omschrijving
Gecementeerde gewitte bakstenen karnmolen op achtzijdige grondslag. De karn- of 'botermolen', heeft een kegelvormig dak gedekt met riet met gecementeerde top. Aan de zijde gericht naar de boerderij een horizontaal gedeelde deur vervaardigd uit opgeklampte kraaldelen met ijzer geheng en een hardstenen plaat als dorpel.
In het gewitte interieur een ziende eveneens gewitte sporenkap met acht sporen elk geschraagd door twee zijwaarts aangezette kortere sporen. Horizontaal op de muurplaten geplaatste secundair gebruikte balken, met centraal de voormalige spilbalk. In deze balk een halfronde uitholling en enkele ijzeren beugels en ander metalen onderdelen welke vroeger deel uitmaakten van het draaimechanisme. Op de spilbalk een verticaal geplaatste vierkante stutbalk welke de top ondersteund. De karnmolen heeft een betonnen vloer.
Waardering
De karnmolen is van algemeen belang vanwege de typologische en functionele zeldzaamheid als zijnde het enige voorbeeld in het zuiden van Nederland van een vrijstaande, zelfstandige door koeien aangedreven karn- of botermolen. Het object is tevens van belang vanwege de gaafheid van in- en exterieur en vanwege de ensemblewaarden als essentieel onderdeel van een groter gaaf geheel dat cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch van nationaal belang is.

Introduction
To the right of the previously described pig sty stands a BUTTER CHURN MILL dating from the second half of the nineteenth century. The butter churn mill belonged to the farmhouse which previously stood at this location and which was demolished shortly before in connection with the new construction of 1912. From circa 1920 the butter churn mill was used as a horse stable. In 1957 the thatched roof was renewed.
Because of the typology, architectural execution and the manner of drive, this butter churn mill is a unique example in southern Netherlands. The drive was operated by a cow, this in contrast to the usually customary drive with horses (horse mill) or dogs. Such a type of butter churn mill is only known from West Flanders.
Description
Cemented whitewashed brick butter churn mill on octagonal base. The churn or 'butter mill', has a conical roof covered with thatch with a cemented top. On the side facing the farmhouse a horizontally divided door made from clamped bead sections with iron hinges and a sandstone lintel.
In the whitewashed interior a visible likewise whitewashed radial roof truss with eight spokes each braced by two laterally set shorter spokes. Horizontal beams placed on the wall plates, with centrally the former main beam. In this beam a semi-circular hollowing and several iron brackets and other metal components which formerly formed part of the turning mechanism. On the main beam a vertically placed square support beam which supports the top. The butter churn mill has a concrete floor.
Valuation
The butter churn mill is of general public interest because of its typological and functional rarity as being the only example in southern Netherlands of a free-standing, independent, cow-driven butter or butter mill. The object is furthermore of importance because of the intactness of interior and exterior and because of ensemble values as an essential component of a larger intact whole which is of national cultural and architectural-historical importance.
